Electroluminescent Lighting
Light Curve & Brightness
As with any light source, EL displays show a gradually reduced output as they age. Since there is no catastrophic failure to mark end of life for a modern EL lamp, it is useful to choose a definable point in the decay curve as a measure of lifetime. In the typical curve, a point near 55% of original brightness provides a useful measure, especially since the decay curve appears to flatten out after this point. Technomark lamps show a Time to Half Brightness of more than 1000 hours, when used at 110V/400 Hz.
